Each year on September 18, we observe National HIV/AIDS and Aging Awareness Day (NHAAD)—a day to recognize the growing number of people who are aging with HIV and to raise awareness about their unique needs and experiences. Led by The AIDS Institute, NHAAD is a call to action to support older adults living with or at risk for HIV. Thanks to decades of medical advancements, people diagnosed with HIV are living longer, fuller lives—but aging with HIV brings new challenges in prevention, care, and social support.

This Year’s Theme:

“Protect Our Aging Populations: Meeting New Challenges to Live Longer and Improve Lives!”
emphasizes the importance of continued research, tailored prevention efforts, and comprehensive care strategies that support the aging population affected by HIV.
