The UNC Center for AIDS Research (CFAR) is proud to spotlight Ning Fu, a Chapel Hill native and lifelong Tar Heel, who recently received the Dean’s Performance Award for her exceptional contributions to UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center and research operations across the university, including her support for CFAR.
Since joining UNC’s Lineberger Cancer Center in 2012, she has steadily advanced from an accounting technician to her current role as Assistant Director of Finance in 2024. Over the past decade, she’s built an impressive career marked by integrity, resilience, and leadership.
Her recognition with the Dean’s Performance Award is a testament to her unwavering commitment to the mission of Lineberger and CFAR. It’s her first recognition at the School of Medicine level and reflects years of dedication and impact behind the scenes.
Ning’s leadership style is rooted in transparency, collaboration, and professional development. She has helped her team navigate policy changes, institutional transitions, and resource limitations — all while ensuring smooth operations and fostering a mission-driven culture. As a key liaison between research teams, central offices, and external partners, she plays a vital role in supporting groundbreaking research.
