About

Julie Dumond is an Associate Professor in the Division of Pharmacotherapy and Experimental Therapeutics at the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy. She completed an American College of Clinical Pharmacy-accredited HIV pharmacology fellowship within the Kashuba laboratory. Dr. Dumond joined the UNC CFAR in 2019 and transitioned to Co-Director of the CPAC Core in 2026. Her research expertise is in the quantitative clinical pharmacology of antiretrovirals used for HIV prevention and treatment. Most recently, her research has focused on differences in exposure of the second-generation HIV integrase inhibitors and weight-related cardiometabolic outcomes, as well as the effectiveness of pharmacotherapy to decrease weight and cardiovascular risk in people with HIV receiving integrase inhibitors. Dumond’s current R01 award from NIAID on these topics is nested within the MACS/WIHS Clinical Cohort Study, in which she also serves as co-chair of the pharmacology working group.
