Department of Pediatrics, Division of Gastroenterology School of Medicine University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Research Summary Matthew Egberg is a pediatric gastroenterologist who recently joined the UNC faculty. He completed his pediatric GI training at Boston Children’s Hospital where he completed a fellowship in pediatric health services research and an MPH in Clinical Effectiveness at the Harvard TH Chan School of Public Health. He then completed a fourth year of training as a joint IBD fellow at Boston Children’s Hospital and a Quality Improvement fellow at the Institute for Healthcare Improvement. His current investigation centers on clinical and comparative effectiveness research and the use of novel predictive modeling to empower key stakeholders in medical decision-making. Relevance of Research to CGIBD Mission: Dr. Egberg is an Associate Member of the CGIBD. His clinical and research focus is on IBD. He received a pilot/feasibility award in 2017. His research takes advantage of resources from the Biostatistics and Clinical Research Core, including consultation from the Core biostatistician and the availability of large administrative databases.
