The Association of Biomedical Research Facilities (ABRF) national meeting was held May 7-10 in Boston, MA. UNC was well represented with nine attendees from several different core facilities and core support organizations represented.

Additionally, UNC core affiliates fielded three posters.

Dr. Patricia Basta, of the BioSpecimen Processing Facility presented two posters. One, a research poster entitled “Method Comparison for Circulating Free Fetal DNA (cffDNA) Extraction from Plasma Samples of Women During Pregnancy in Support of Noninvasive Perinatal Sequencing for Precision Medicine Prenatal Care” was presented in the research poster session and won a Waters Outstanding Poster Award. Congrats, Dr. Basta!

 

Two posters during the Information session were hosted by UNC core directors and core. Dr. Basta also presented “Use of Isotachophoresis for successful nucleic acid extraction from difficult specimens in the Biospecimen Processing Core Facility  at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill” and Dr. Christopher Gregory, from the Office of Research Technologies, presented a poster on our acknowledgment tracking initiative entitled “A Robust Search Strategy for Acknowledgments of Core Contributions in Scientific Publications”
