The Impact of Dobbs on Emerging Reproductive Technologies

Join us on Friday, March 8, 2024 at 12pm ET for the next ELSI Friday Forum session: The Impact of Dobbs on Emerging Reproductive Technologies, with panelists Sigal Klipstein, MD, FACOG (InVia Fertility Specialists; University of Chicago), Judith Daar, JD (Chase College of Law, Northern Kentucky University), and moderator Kimberly Mutcherson, JD (Rutgers Law School).
In 2022, the US Supreme Court Dobbs vs. Jackson Women’s Health Organization overturned federal protection for abortion. This historic ruling not only relegates this authority to state legislatures but raises the possibility of restrictions on a range of reproductive technologies. Join us for an ELSI Friday Forum with reproductive endocrinologist and infertility specialist Sigal Klipstein and legal scholar and expert on assisted reproductive technologies Judith Daar on the changing regulatory landscape and the use of genomics in reproductive health. They will discuss the implications of the Dobbs decision on testing of embryos, including for aneuploidy and single gene disorders, and polygenic disorders and traits, and the jurisprudence surrounding reproductive decision-making. Moderating this forum discussion will be health law and reproductive justice scholar Kim Mutcherson.
