Hi, I’m Eithar Wahab! I’m a rising senior at Grimsley High School, serving as Student Body President for the 2024-25 school year. I’m also president of GHS Girls in STEM and Grimsley String Ensemble Club. Additionally, I play cello and participate in Indoor and Outdoor track. In my free time, I like to watch TV shows, crochet, and go to the gym.
My interest in medicine peaked in middle school when my healthcare experience nearly killed me but also saved my life. Over time, I grew eager to understand hospital procedures and how healthcare intersected with diversity and inclusion, where topics like medical racism and equity and inclusion efforts caught my eye. In my high school career, I’ve researched several medical issues, including addressing medical mistrust among African Americans and analyzing weaknesses in medical equity and inclusion efforts. Through research and conversation, I knew I wanted to pursue a medical career to ensure that other patients receive equitable, fair treatment.
ISHTaR is an opportunity to explore my passions and learn more about combating implicit bias in a medical setting. Though I’ve done much research independently, this internship allows me to work with active medical professionals to truly understand how medicine can be more equitable to people from all backgrounds.
