Upon completion of this talk, attendees should:

1.    Be familiar with the concept of competency-based education and how it has shaped both undergraduate and graduate medical education

2.    Understand the relevant literature of history-taking and physical exam skills in both trainees and attending physicians

3.    Be familiar with the MRCP(UK) PACES examination and how it differs from traditional OSCE examinations

4.    Recognize the importance of direct observation and high-quality feedback in the clinical education of both UME and GME trainees
