Chief Consultant for Preventive Medicine for the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) National Center for Health Promotion and Disease Prevention
Primary Care MD at Durham VA Medical Center
Associate Professor in Duke University Medical Center’s Department of Medicine
I chose Preventive Medicine because I love its potential to improve the health of entire populations. After graduating from the UNC Preventive Medicine residency in 2005, I took a job at the Durham VA Medical Center as a primary care physician and gradually took on clinic- and system-wide roles. In 2013, I joined the VHA National Center for Health Promotion and Disease Prevention. In my current role, I have the opportunity to develop policy and programs that impact Veterans enrolled in VA health care across the nation. My current position provides me opportunities to regularly use many of the skills and approaches I learned at UNC.
