It is with great pleasure that UNC Family Medicine announces Kevin Tate, MHA, as our department’s new Vice Chair for Administration, beginning on July 12, 2021. He is well-prepared for the role and is committed to serving the department in our multiple missions.
Kevin has been with the Department of Family Medicine for 16 years, starting as Assistant Practice Manager and more recently as the Director of Clinical Business Operations. He has worked closely with Ron Lingley over the years and has a well-developed understanding of the department’s operations and relationship with both the School of Medicine and UNC Health. In his most recent role he has been responsible for strategy, finance, and operational oversight for all outpatient clinical operations of the department. He has played a significant role in opening the UNC Family Medicine Durham and Carraway Village clinic locations, developing worksite wellness and other clinical contractual programs, administering the faculty compensation plan, and directing financial and operational analytics for the department.
Kevin received his Bachelors of Arts in Economics and Political Science from the University of North Carolina in 2000 and completed his Master of Health Administration (MHA) in 2005 at the UNC Gillings School of Public Health.
As we welcome Kevin in his new role, we reflect on the tireless dedication of Ron Lingley, MSPH, who has served the department for over 35 years and is retiring at the end of July. The department has grown significantly over the past three decades and Ron has played a major role in this success. He is also a leader in the institution, with many seeking his wise counsel. We will miss him dearly, but wish him many years of happiness in retirement.
