On June 26th, during the UNC Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship graduation ceremony, the newly created Harry C. Stafford Endowment for Community Service was announced. Alumni of the program surprised its Director, Harry Stafford, MD, MBA, with the endowment that honors his ongoing commitment to humanitarian service beyond clinical care. 

Faculty from UNC Family Medicine and the Sports Medicine Fellowship teach bracing, casting and splinting workshops.  UNC Sports Faculty and fellows were available for the UNC School of Medicine family medicine interest group workshop. During the workshop students learned how to correctly apply braces as well as how to split and cast musculoskeletal injuries.

2016-2017 Sports medicine Fellows came to provide coverage for the 2017 Winter Special Olympics in Charlotte, NC along with the 2017-2018 fellows.

We had another great turnout from sports medicine providers from the area and South Carolina for the two day symposium. Former graduates were able to come in for the annual event. UNC Family Medicine, Orthopedics and Sports Medicine combined to provide sideline and training room coverage for areas high schools. The coverage provided a needed service to the community and also gave residents and medical students valuable sports medicine experience.
