UNIVERSITY TRACK RESIDENT
Hello, my name is Alex! I will say right off the bat that coming to UNC has been a dream come true. I am originally from a very rural town in Western Pennsylvania called Loretto, which is where I developed a passion for providing care to people in rural communities. I completed my undergraduate school at the University of Pittsburgh, and completed a gap year doing research in wound care before attending medical school at Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine (VCOM).
One rotation with UNC Family Medicine during my 4th year of med school was all it took for me to fall in love with this program. It is truly a full-spectrum family medicine program where I am challenged, supported, and growing each day. My interests in family medicine include lifestyle medicine, procedures, and inpatient medicine, and I was immediately connected with faculty members who share similar passions that were genuinely eager to help facilitate my training. Not only are there countless opportunities, but there is an authentic, welcoming, compassionate, and determined culture at UNC that starts with our incredible leadership and trickles all the way down. When I moved to UNC I did not know anyone in the Triangle area, but I truly feel like I found a family here. I am beyond excited to work with an incredibly diverse patient population, from both rural and urban communities, and I am so excited to continue to serve the people of the Triangle.
Outside of medicine, I love to watch movies, read, and enjoy nature whether it’s a hike or taking care of my plants. I also am an extremely passionate Pittsburgh Steelers, Penguins, and Pirates fan, but I also enjoy watching basketball, soccer, and golf. Fun fact about me: my mantra is “let it be” because I like to go with the flow and take life and its blessings/stressors as they come!
