Preventive Medicine Resident

Dr. Alexander Young, DO is a native of Prince George, British Columbia. He graduated from the Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2020 and completed his internship in Internal Medicine at Naval Medical Center San Diego in 2021.  Prior to joining UNC Preventive Medicine, he was a Medical Corps Officer in the US Navy. He finished a tour at A.T. Augusta Military Medical Center in Fort Belvoir, VA where he worked as the Officer in Charge of a Family Medicine Department and Army Troop Command’s Battalion Surgeon.  His final Tour was with Naval Mobile Construction Battalion One in Gulfport, MS, where he completed two deployments to Europe and served as the Medical Department head.  Dr. Young’s Previous research was focused on the potential impact of environmental toxin exposure contribution to hearing damage and loss.

His hobbies including DJ’ing and traveling.  He has performed at events ranging from nightclubs in Washington, DC, Anime conventions in Portland, weddings in Nashville, and parties in Italy.  He has traveled to fifteen countries and thirty US States.
