Areas of Interest
Dr. Lombardi’s research focuses on understanding how health systems deploy teams of providers to address the physical health, behavioral health, and social needs of marginalized populations through integrated models of care. She is considered an expert in social worker roles on integrated health care teams and uses innovative methods to study the expanding role of social workers in integrated primary care. Her research explores how teams of interprofessional health providers can work together to improve health, identifies the workforce needed to build diverse teams, and evaluates the payment and policy mechanisms to support these changes in health systems.
