FQHC Track Resident: Prospect Hill

Hey, y’all! My name is Emma (she/her), I grew up in Arlington, Virginia, just outside of DC. I first moved to North Carolina in 2015 when I started college at Davidson (go ‘cats!). After college, I worked for two years as a MedServe Fellow at a small, non-profit clinic in Charlotte called Care Ring. During those two years, I developed proficiency in medical Spanish with a lot of support and teaching from a wonderful team of bilingual medical assistants. My time at Care Ring also affirmed my desire to work in direct service to marginalized communities, particularly immigrant and refugee families.

I came to UNC for medical school knowing that I wanted to practice broad spectrum primary care, and was accepted to the FIRST program, through which I had the privilege of knowing early on I would get to stay at UNC for family medicine residency! During medical school, I developed additional interests in clinical teaching, healthcare access and equity research, and advocacy.

My interest outside of medicine include traveling to Miami to visit my partner, eating and occasionally hosting brunch, and running on the American Tobacco Trail.

My interests in medicine include refugee and immigrant health, gender affirming care, addiction medicine, and geriatrics.
