Adjunct Clinical Faculty

Dr. Blount grew up in Edenton, NC, a beautiful little historic town on the Albemarle Sound in Eastern North Carolina. He attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for his undergraduate training and then medical school at Wake Forest University School of Medicine. He completed his residency in Family Medicine at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, NC. He subsequently completed a Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship through the Moses Cone Family Medicine program in Greensboro, NC; during which, he served as Assistant Team Physician for Elon University. Upon completion of his training in 2002, he moved to Cary, NC and became a founding partner of Carolina Family Practice and Sports Medicine.

Dr. Blount is one of the Team Physicians for the Carolina Hurricanes and Team Physician for Green Hope High School. He teaches Family Medicine residents as an Adjunct Clinical Faculty for the Department of Family Medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His practice also provides medical care for the Carolina Ballet, USA Baseball, NC Football Club, and the Carolina Courage.
He is married to Tanya Blount. He has 3 daughters (Mckenna, Lexi, and Emery) and 2 stepchildren (Tyson and Reagan). Dr. Blount enjoys spending time with his family, exercising, and going to see live music.
