Personal Statement
I grew up in sunny St. Petersburg, Florida and completed both my undergraduate and medical education at the University of Florida (Go Gators!). During undergrad, I was involved with Proyecto Libros de Familia, a literacy program for children in migrant and seasonal farmworker families. My work with Libros, coupled with international experiences during medical school in Peru, Ecuador, and the Dominican Republic, helped to foster my interest in local-global health equity and community empowerment. The Underserved Track at UNC provides the perfect intersection of these ideals, and I am beyond grateful for the opportunity to train in this program.
In my free time, I enjoy outdoor adventures, cycling, travel, reading, and live music. My family has been a wonderful support system for me throughout the years (shout-out to the Costa-Hintersehr-O’Gradney-Stankovic clan back in the Burg!), and my best days are spent with them. I am a huge fan of Florida Gator Basketball, loyal to my hometown Tampa Bay Rays, and looking forward to extending my fandom to the UNC Tarheels.
