Assistant Professor

Biographical Information

Dr. Ruiz is originally from a small town in Mexico and grew up in North Carolina. He attended UNC-Chapel Hill for undergraduate and completed medical school at UNC School of Medicine. He completed his Family Medicine residency training and Family Medicine High Risk Obstetrics fellowship at Ventura County Medical Center.

He currently works at the Chatham Maternity Care Center and Chatham Hospital. His clinic is based out of PHS-Siler City Community Health Center, one of the sites for the UNC Family Medicine Residency Rural Health Track.

When he is not at work, he enjoys spending time with his family, hiking, running, and mentoring first generation college & DACA students.

Full spectrum family medicine, care for the underserved, maternal child health, hospital medicine, inpatient and outpatient procedures, bedside ultrasound, and medical education.
