Kayla Bonnell serves as the Associate Director of Educational Programs in the Department of Family Medicine at the University of North Carolina and as the Associate Director of the UNC Faculty Development Fellowship. Since joining the department in July 2021, Kayla has played a pivotal role in advancing educational initiatives and supporting faculty development.
Before stepping into her current leadership roles, Kayla was the Medical Student Education Coordinator for Family Medicine, where she led key initiatives including the Family Medicine Interest Group (FMIG), the Summer Research Fellowship, and advising for students pursuing careers in family medicine. She also served as the Fellowship Administrator for the UNC Faculty Development Fellowship, contributing significantly to its growth and success.
Prior to her time at UNC, Kayla worked at Appalachian State University as an Academic Advisor in the College of Health Sciences. Her professional passions include working with learners, program development, and educational assessment. She is deeply committed to fostering innovative learning environments and supporting the next generation of healthcare professionals.
