FQHC TRACK RESIDENT: PROSPECT HILL
My name is Kurt Auville, and I am excited to be working as a Family Medicine doctor in North Carolina! I grew up in Olney, Maryland, and attended the University of Maryland, College Park, where I studied neuroscience and Spanish. As the son of a kindergarten teacher, education has always been an integral part of my life. A 2017 trip to La Paz, Bolivia, changed my career ambitions. I traveled there to teach English but had the opportunity to volunteer in the pediatric ward of a hospital, which led me to explore a career in medicine. Prior to medical school, I taught English in Gran Canaria, Spain, through the Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship program.
At the University of Maryland School of Medicine, my family medicine mentors inspired me to pursue a full-spectrum family medicine program working with underserved communities. I also enjoyed volunteering with the Ritchie Gilchrist Hospice Center throughout medical school. I look forward to working with Spanish-speaking patients and improving my Spanish language skills. I am excited to be joining a program that shares my commitment to improving health care access through a community-based approach.
Outside of medicine, I enjoy playing basketball, running, and hiking. You can also find me cooking a new recipe or spending quality time with my partner, family, and friends.
