Resident Physician

Personal Statement

Hello! I was born and raised in a small town in southeastern Minnesota. This is actually my first venture to the South. Safe to say, I’m excited to get a break from the cold winters and snow, and if you pick-up on that northern accent, you know why. I attended undergrad at Augustana College in Sioux Falls, SD where I studied Biology and Psychology. After graduating, I spent a year working full-time as a nursing assistant and also helped out at a local group home to care for children affected by behavioral disorders.

I then returned back home to Minnesota where I attended medical school at the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities. While in medical school, I was fortunate to partake in the RPAP program where I was able to help serve a small MN rural community for a 9-month period. I also got to further explore my interests related to hospice & palliative care.

My interests in family medicine include: hospice & palliative care, geriatrics, sports medicine, and rural medicine.

My wife, Jenny, and I are thrilled to be here in Chapel Hill. We love being close to my wife’s family, and I have no doubt that the training I’ll receive at UNC will help me become the type of full-spectrum provider I aspire to be one day.

Outside of work, I love spending time with my family. My wife and I recently welcomed a new addition to our family – our daughter, Grace. We also have a little dog named Teddy. I’m happy to show off pictures of both, so don’t feel afraid to ask to see them. When we have time, we also love to spend time outdoors and exploring different restaurants/breweries.
