Laura Hester, MD

Dr. Hester served as Medical Director of the Chatham Hospital Emergency Department for over 15 years, supervising a group of 8-10 UNC Family Medicine faculty members who provide emergency services at this hospital, along with managing a required PGY 3 Family Medicine rotation and a senior UNC medical student elective in Rural Emergency Medicine. Dr. Hester’s work in that role made an impact enticing and empowering more physicians to pursue a career in a rural setting.
