Resident Physician

Personal Statement

I was born in Colombia and lived there for ten years before moving to Miami, Fl. I started making my way north by doing my undergrad education at the University of Florida (GO GATORS!) and eventually made it all the way to Toledo, Ohio where I attended medical school at the University of Toledo- SO COLD! I am so happy to be back south where it is humid and hot!

My interest in family medicine started during my third year of med school when I realized that I loved every rotation- I wanted to do it all! My experiences during my family medicine rotation showcased the breadth of medical knowledge family physicians possess as well as the ability and desire to take care of patients and families psychosocial needs which are fundamental in being able to provide excellent care.

When I interviewed at UNC I felt that my specific interests in underserved care, behavioral health, and receiving strong inpatient training were supported and reflected by faculty and fellow residents who feel the same way. I was searching for a program that felt like a family where everyone cared for one other and I definitely found it here. So happy to be a TarHeel!

Outside of medicine I enjoy reading, dancing and checking out what the true south has to offer! (Since I don’t think Miami counts as the south at all…) Feel free to contact me with any questions!
