Biographical Information

Dr. Maria Thekkekandam is a North Carolina native whose parents moved from southern India to Greensboro, where she was born and raised. She received her undergraduate, medical, and public health master’s degrees from UNC-Chapel Hill and did her Family Medicine residency training at Moses Cone Hospital. After working at a Community Health Center outside of Seattle, WA and then at WakeMed Primary Care in Apex, NC, she has returned home to the UNC Family Medicine Center at Carraway Village. Outside of work, she enjoys the outdoors with her husband and their son. She also likes to sing and paint, and she is learning how to play the ukulele.

Areas of Interest

Dr. Thekkekandam enjoys the breadth of Family Medicine but is particularly drawn to providing mental health care and performing procedures.
