Dr. Nandini Kumar, MD is a family physician with a deep commitment to improving population health and advancing health equity. She holds a BA in Public Policy Studies from Duke University and earned her medical degree from the Wake Forest SOM. Dr. Kumar completed her residency in Family Medicine at Duke University Hospital and worked for several years as a primary care physician in both rural and urban settings before joining the Preventive Medicine Residency at UNC, where she will also pursue a Master in Public Health. With over a decade of cumulative experience spanning higher education, community health, primary care, and health policy, Dr. Kumar has worked extensively with diverse and underserved populations across NC. Her clinical and professional interests include preventive care across the lifespan, rural health, quality improvement, and lifestyle medicine.
Outside of work, she enjoys time with her husband and children, a good cup of coffee, live music, and the outdoors.
