UNIVERSITY TRACK RESIDENT
Hey there! I’m Patrick, and I’m grateful you’re interested in learning more about me. After growing up in rural Indiana and suburban Massachusetts, I moved to North Carolina to attend college at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. As an undergraduate, I knew only that I wanted a career where I could work with people and contribute to the community in which I live. This passion first led me to pursue a job as an educator. While working with underserved communities in this capacity, I quickly learned about the healthcare challenges many of my students faced. I decided to return to school to pursue my medical doctorate at UNC.
My experience at UNC Medical School showed me the beauty of family medicine. It is one of the only specialties where you can work with all kinds of patients at all different stages of life. Although patients may interact with a variety of healthcare professionals over the course of their lives, a family physician has the opportunity (and the honor) to be a source of consistency and continuity. I take this responsibility seriously and emphasize getting to know my patients and partnering with them to help them achieve their healthcare goals.
To this end, I am grateful to be remaining in Chapel Hill for residency. My clinical interests include behavioral health, chronic disease management, evidence-based medicine, and serving all patients regardless of background. In my free time, I enjoy hiking with my partner and two dogs. I look forward to working with you!
