Biographical Information
Dr. Paulus grew up in a small Ohio town where he was inspired by his family doctor and community to pursue family medicine. He completed medical school at Ohio University and then completed his residency in Family Medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He has been involved with the AAFP and ACOFP at the local, state, and national levels throughout his training to promote and advocate for the field of family medicine. He enjoys being part of medical education and takes particular interest in teaching medical students and residents about point-of-care ultrasound and inpatient medicine.
Outside of work, Dr. Paulus takes advantage of all the outdoor offerings North Carolina provides. He particularly enjoys heading to the mountains for hiking, camping, fly fishing, and mountain biking.
Areas of Interest
Paulus takes a special interest in rural health, particularly around hospital work. He works at UNC Chatham, a critical access hospital, and UNC Hillsborough, a rural community hospital. He also takes interest in contributing to medical education through publishing articles and recording podcasts.
