UNIVERSITY TRACK RESIDENT
Welcome yall! Thanks for reading my page! My name is Tayler McMurtrey. I am from a small rural town called Edmonton, Kentucky. It has beautiful farmland, the best country ham and biscuits, and one red light in the entire county. What we lack in size, we make up for in hard work, community spirit, and great people!
I attended college and medical school at the University of Kentucky (Go Cats!). I earned my bachelor’s degree in Human Nutrition. I knew early on that I wanted to be a doctor and during undergrad my passion for serving others through medicine was magnified.
In medical school I was in the Rural Physicians Leadership Program where I did my clinical training at a rural community hospital in Eastern Kentucky. I was fortunate to work with many great people and patients who accepted me as one of their own.
Growing up in a rural community shaped my view on healthcare and gave me and appreciation for the whole person not just their medical needs. Moving through rotations in medical school it became obvious that family medicine would allow me to care about my patients first and their medical history second. I’ve learned that one care plan doesn’t work for everyone, and I hope to provide holistic, compassionate care for my patients.
My interests in Family Medicine include chronic disease management, women’s health, maternity care, and nutrition. I am so excited to work with my patients of all ages to optimize their health and find the best care plan for them.
Outside of work you’ll find me on me on the move outdoors or on my stationary bike, exploring the triangle, or trying out new recipes in my kitchen. In my down time I love to catch up with family and friends and have an affinity for podcasts, so forward recommendations my way!
Whether you are a potential patient or applying for residency, please do not hesitate to reach out ! I would be happy to help in any way I can.
