Biographical Information
Dr. Roten is a life-long North Carolinian and has been at UNC for medical school and residency prior to starting as faculty. His professional interests include rural health, care for the underserved, language access, treatment of substance use disorders and medical education. Outside of work he enjoys spending time with family, cycling, and playing guitar and banjo.
Dr. Roten sees a primary care panel at Piedmont Health Services Siler City Community Health Center, where he is Assistant Director of the UNC Family Medicine Residency Program for the site’s Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) Track.
Areas of Interest
Dr. Roten is currently working on expanding curricula in point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS), Spanish language education for rural trainees, and rural workforce development and mentoring in North Carolina.
