Snippet

When we tell strangers that we work in long-term care, the responses vary from indifference to empathy to distaste. Never once has someone commented that they considered us fortunate to work in a nursing home or assisted living community. This negative public image has tremendous implications. It makes recruitment of workers harder; it makes volunteer help more scarce; it makes prospective residents reluctant; and it makes public support of government funding less likely.
