David Collins is undergraduate at UNC Chapel Hill (Class of 2018) pursuing a B.S in Computer Science and a minor in Chemistry. David’s interest in bioinformatics led him to join the Berg Lab in the fall of 2016 where he has since been working to develop a web interface and database to help simplify and centralize the creation and management of gene-disease diagnostic lists. Previously, David has worked as a research intern for Dr. Thomas Lasko MDPhD, with Vanderbilt Medical Center’s Department of Biomedical Informatics where he developed a real-time visualization of de-identified medical data with the goal of providing snapshots of overall clinical activity and patient health. Post-graduation, David hopes to pursue graduate studies in health informatics.
