Kristen graduated from the University of Connecticut in 2013 with a B. S. in Molecular and Cell Biology. Her undergraduate thesis project looked at Epstein-Barr Virus and its cell transformation and oncogenic potential in humans. She obtained a M.S. in Medical Science at Boston University and completed her thesis research in the Berg Lab at UNC in 2015. In the Berg Lab she evaluated the clinical validity of genes that are included on current cancer diagnostic panels and looking for new variants in “unsolved” NC GENES patients. In addition to her thesis research she assisted with other aspects of the NC GENES project. Kristen is now a medical student at Eastern Virginia Medical School.
