Lacey is doing research on genes linked to a variety of inherited human disorders. The background information collected will assist physicians and researchers in deciding which genes are clinically actionable and should be reported to patients undergoing whole exome sequencing. In addition to gene curation efforts, she is also working on the social science side, speaking with patients in the clinic and doing follow up surveys for NCGENES.

Lacey graduated from Missouri State University in May of 2013 with a B.S. in Cell and Molecular Biology and Spanish. She played basketball for the Missouri State Lady Bears and was a team captain and 4-year letter winner. Her senior year, she was named the Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year and was also a 2nd Team Academic All-American. Lacey left the Berg Lab to attend medical school at UNC.
