Meera Jairath graduated Magna Cum Laude from Furman University, Greenville, SC, in May 2018 with a B.S in Health Sciences.

As an undergraduate, she participated in multiple research projects at UNC Chapel Hill during her summers. During the summer of 2015, she worked as a research assistant on a clinical pill-swallowing study with the Department of Pediatrics, and assisted Dr. Muenzer in the Division of Genetics and Metabolism with his ongoing mucopolysaccharidosis research. During the summer of 2017, she participated in a research project involving screening patients’ after visit summaries on the children’s inpatient ward with the Department of Pediatrics. Meera is interested in the sciences and enjoys research as it allows her to think critically about important and interesting aspects of medicine.

Meera is currently working in the Berg Lab as a research assistant, she is excited about this opportunity and plans to attend medical school in the future. Outside of academia, Meera enjoys the outdoors, bike-rides, painting, reading, and spending time with friends and family.
