Health on Wheels is a mobile medical unit program that started in spring 2010 at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The program’s mission is to bring basic health initiatives and opportunities directly to the community, including health screenings, medical appointments, health studies, and the sharing of health information.  The unit is made available to UNC researchers, UNC clinicians and other UNC collaborators.

The program makes it possible to bring a small exam room to venues throughout the state.  The medical unit includes an exam table, two blood-drawing chairs, a hand-washing sink and other basic exam room features. The mobile unit provides a comfortable and private setting for conducting medical interventions, including health exams, screenings and interviews.
