Dr. Afsaneh Pirzadeh is an Associate Professor in the Division of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine at UNC. She did her medical training at UNC and then completed a pediatrics residency at Duke followed by a pediatric critical care fellowship at CHOP before returning as faculty to UNC where she considers home in 2009. Her focus is on resuscitation science, and neurologic injury.
As a prior IHQI scholar, she worked on developing a pediatric stroke pathway. She serves as the site PI for the international multicenter PediResQ study and its associated sub-studies and focuses her teaching on promoting a culture of safety and transparency, fostering reflective practice, and delivering compassionate care in high-acuity settings.
