Al Bonifacio is a veteran nurse leader with over a decade of level one trauma and emergency nursing experience. At UNC’s Emergency Department, he served as a Clinical Nurse III, lead preceptor for the ED Nurse Residency Program, and trauma program consultant. He went on to lead operations at the Durham VA’s Patient Safety Center of Inquiry and the Duke Human Simulation Center before returning to UNC, where he now serves as Trauma Program Manager. A retired U.S. Army Reservist, Al served 20 years in various leadership roles and is a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom.  He holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from East Carolina University and a master’s in healthcare administration from UNC Chapel Hill.
