Angelica first developed an appreciation for the potential of QI through her work in the restaurant industry. During her public health training at Gillings, she had the opportunity to take a course on leading in quality improvement, and the rest is history. For her MPH practicum, Angelica collaborated with Dr. Sarah Ro to expand the UNCPN community-based weight management program, with the team’s work recognized by receipt of the 2023 UNCMC Quality and Safety Award.
Angelica values the capacity of QI to unite diverse stakeholder groups with varying roles, perspectives, goals, and power as equals to address complex and important problems, particularly those related to health equity. As a CLQS scholar, Angelica will work with Urologist Dr. Zach Feuer to integrate an EMR clinical pathway, aiming to improve guideline-concordant PSA screening triage in partnership with primary care expert and champion, Dr. Tamara Godfrey.
