Emma Lopes is a medical student at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine with a background in psychology and biology. She brings extensive clinical and research experience, having worked as an ophthalmic assistant at North Carolina Eye, Ear, Nose & Throat and as a laboratory assistant at the Marsico Lung Institute supporting cystic fibrosis research.
Emma is currently conducting research on the assessment of attitudes toward deprescribing in older adults presenting to the emergency department. A committed leader and volunteer, she has served as a long-time event coordinator for the annual BlueBird Ball benefiting 3 Bluebirds Farm.
Passionate about patient advocacy and community engagement, Emma has supported individuals with autism, patients recovering from trauma surgery, and underserved populations through her volunteer work. Looking ahead, she aspires to pursue a career in emergency medicine, combining her clinical interests with her dedication to patient-centered care.
