Dr. Peggy McNaull is UNC Health’s Chief Medical and Quality Officer. She works closely with the CMOs at each entity, chairs the system Quality Improvement Oversight Committee that governs UNC Health’s quality and safety programs, and provides oversight to the Hospital Quality and Innovation, Care Redesign, Physician Advisor, and Central Credentialing teams. Dr. McNaull has a long history with UNC extending back to her residency and more recently includes several significant leadership positions at UNC Hospitals and the UNC School of Medicine. She began her career in healthcare as a nurse serving in neonatal and pediatric intensive care units. She earned her MD and came to UNC for her residency, where she was chief resident before completing a Pediatric Anesthesiology fellowship at UNC and a Pediatric Cardiovascular Anesthesiology fellowship program in Houston. Dr. McNaull also served as Department Chair for the University of Virgina before returning back to her roots at UNC.
