Shernice Martin is a medical student dedicated to advancing health equity through continuous quality improvement (CQI). Since 2022, she has served as a clinical administrator at Choices Women’s Medical Center, leading over 10 CQI studies to improve women’s health outcomes in areas such as patient satisfaction, follow-up compliance, and medication adherence. She also directed the SHAC Bridge to Care Clinic, where she implemented initiatives that streamlined workflows and expanded access for underserved patients.

Her work as a UNC Kenan Urban Scholar further solidified her passion for CQI, as she conducted research to reduce barriers to cancer screenings and improve patient follow-up in non-profit clinical settings. Presenting her findings at the AMEC conference and being inducted into the JBG research society reinforced her ability to turn data into actionable change.

Shernice aspires to become an adult or pediatric neurologist addressing global health disparities, using CQI and clinician leadership as tools to create equitable, sustainable solutions for vulnerable communities.
