Dr. Stephanie Schwartz is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics and is the Vice Chief for Quality and Safety for the Division of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine.  She completed residency and a chief year at UNC and completed her Pediatric Critical Care Medicine Fellowship at Duke University in 2018 prior to returning to UNC on faculty.  Her research interests include patient safety, multicenter quality improvement, and outcomes research.  Dr. Schwartz is a prior IHQI scholar with a project focusing on preventing, recognizing, and managing delirium in critically ill children.  She continues to lead several local quality improvement projects in both the PICU and PCICU focusing on the importance of a strong multidisciplinary team.  She also has a passion for multicenter quality improvement initiatives and is the physician champion for PC4, a multicenter collaborative network of PCICUs that aim to improve the quality of care for patients with critical cardiovascular disease.
