Hello UNC School of Medicine!

We’re honored to welcome you to the 2025–2026 academic year as your Student Body Co-Presidents. Whether you’re just beginning your journey or preparing for the next stage in your career, this year brings opportunities to grow, connect, and contribute in meaningful ways.

To our newest Foundation Phase 1 (MS1) students—welcome. You’re joining a supportive community with countless ways to get involved. To Foundation Phase 2 (MS2) students—we admire your focus as you build on your knowledge and prepare for Step 1. Our Application Phase students are becoming strong clinical contributors, and our Individualization Phase students are shaping their paths toward residency. We also recognize the students taking time for research, dual degrees, and other experiences that expand their education.

UNC School of Medicine is strengthened by the wide range of interests, lived experiences, and commitments students bring—from community advocacy and global health to student orgs, wellness efforts, and peer mentorship. Our faculty and administrators are invested in your success and bring their expertise to both clinical education and professional development.

The UNC SOM Student Government is composed of students across all phases and regional campuses—Chapel Hill, Asheville, Charlotte, Greensboro, Raleigh, and Wilmington. Together, we aim to advocate for student needs, support wellness, shape medical education, and foster a sense of community and belonging. Our work is driven by the belief that every voice matters, and we hope medical school can be academically, personally, and emotionally sustainable for its students.

On this site, you’ll find current Student Government officers and a description of their roles. We encourage you to take part in:

  • Monthly Meetups with faculty
  • Course-specific feedback groups
  • Events like the Medical School Gala

These opportunities are open to all students—not just those in Student Government.

Our goal is to make sure your time at UNC School of Medicine prepares you not only for residency, but also for a career and life that feels aligned with your values. If you ever have questions, feedback, or ideas, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

We’re excited to serve this community alongside you.

Warmly,
Stef & Coco
