The UNC SOM Student Government represents all students in the M.D. program, advocating for both their academic and social interests. Since its establishment before the 1950s, this organization has been a dynamic force for leadership, innovation, and positive change at the UNC School of Medicine. Its dedicated members have played a pivotal role in shaping the student experience and driving continuous improvement within the institution.

Funding

The UNC SOM Student Government is funded through the Medical Foundation of North Carolina, the Medical Alumni Association, the UNC School of Medicine Office of Student Affairs, and Student Activity Fees.

The Student Government then funds student activities and functions including the Winter Gala, Skit Night, class socials, and more.
