About
Andrea Carnegie, PhD, is an Assistant Professor of Medicine and the Chief Operating Officer for the NIH-funded North Carolina Translational and Clinical Sciences Institute (NC TraCS). She has over 10 years of research, administration and translational science experience. Her primary research interest is in translational medicine, specifically the discovery of new diagnostic tools and treatments through multi-disciplinary, highly collaborative, bench-to-bedside approaches. During her training, her research focused on intracellular communication networks that promote specificity in signal transduction.
As the Chief Operating Officer of NC TraCS, she directs the administrative, financial, and operational affairs of the TraCS Institute. She works closely with university leadership to implement strategies and programs that facilitate clinical and translational research at UNC. She fosters collaborations with the broader research community both locally and nationally, and addresses research enterprise needs.
