About
Dr. Kirk’s practice includes consultative general endocrinology, with a clinical focus on thyroid disease. She has been active in undergraduate and graduate medical education. She previously served as the director of the endocrine block in the pre-clinical curriculum at the UNC School of Medicine. She currently directs the medical student clinical elective in adult endocrinology in the Individualization Phase, and precepts residents, endocrine fellows, and other medical health professionals in the outpatient setting.
As the medical director of the UNC Endocrinology Clinic between 2014-2024, Dr. Kirk led efforts to enhance clinic access and workflows, physician and provider support, and the overall patient experience. As Vice Chief of Clinical Affairs for Endocrinology, she focuses on recruitment and development of clinical faculty, coordination and growth of endocrine service lines, and optimizing clinical operations. As Associate Vice Chair for Outpatient Services in Department of Medicine, she works across divisions and with hospital leadership to enhance similar processes at the departmental level.
