About
I am a clinician and educator within the division of Endocrinology, working closely with fellows on the outpatient and inpatient services. I have long considered myself a generalist and have had diverse roles such as developing the inpatient diabetes insulin management algorithms, and leading the outpatient thyroid biopsy clinic. My research experience includes the role of site principal investigator at UNC for the NovoNordisk sponsored LEADER trial, as well as ONSET 5 and 8 trials. Since 2018, my focus has been on the interdisciplinary care of patients with pituitary pathology including pituitary neuroendocrine tumors. This role is the perfect culmination of my education, experience and efforts: pituitary pathology requires an appreciation of the nuances and effects of pituitary disease on many endocrine subspecialties including glucose metabolism, adrenal, bone, thyroid, and reproductive health. Each month, I organize and lead the Pituitary Case Conference at which time the departments of Endocrinology, Neurosurgery, ENT, Neuroradiology, Neuro-Ophthalmology, Pathology, and Radiation Oncology meet to review and discuss challenging cases. This conference educates participants, improves communication and collegiality between departments, and ultimately improves patient care. I consider it an honor to work in an environment where we are all teaching and learning together with the same shared mission of serving the people of North Carolina and beyond.
