About

Richard Kahn, PhD, is a consultant/researcher with interests in diabetes, obesity and nutrition. From 1985 to 2009 he was the Chief Scientific and Medical Officer of the American Diabetes Association. His responsibilities included oversight for all professional education activities, the development of clinical practice guidelines and senior staff direction for the professional books and journals produced by the Association. Prior to joining the American Diabetes Association he was an Associate Professor of Pathology at Washington University.

Dr. Kahn received his doctorate in physiology from Georgetown University.  He has received many awards and honors, including the 2009 Charles H. Best Medal for Distinguished Service from the American Diabetes Association and the 2009 Albert Renold Medal from the European Association for the Study of Diabetes. He has published numerous original research studies, reviews and other scientific communications
