Hep-C hope
Your clinicians at UNC will provide you with the most recent information on response rates based on your particular type of hepatitis (your genotype) to help you decide what treatment option is best for you and when to begin therapy. There are many things to consider when thinking about starting therapy. They include: other health conditions, work status, financial/insurance status, or other things going on in your life such as major events or life transitions.
It is important to remember that in most cases, there is no urgency to begin therapy. It is better to begin therapy when both you and your clinician have agreed that everything is in place, rather than start and have to stop treatment early. Your clinician may wish to evaluate other conditions or repeat lab studies to make sure it is safe for you to start the treatment. In other cases, patients have decided to wait to begin treatment until after events such as starting a new job or having a child.
