Fatty Liver
Fatty liver disease (also called NASH or non-alcoholic fatty liver disease): Fatty liver disease is a common cause of abnormal liver tests. The name describes what happens: fat droplets accumulate in the liver to cause inflammation (irritation).
Individuals who are overweight or who have diabetes are at increased risk for fatty liver disease. It is usually a mild disease, however, some patients can develop cirrhosis. Lifestyle changes are important in managing this disease. A number of experimental treatments are also under investigation.
